There are numerous gambling dens in the commonwealth, most on moored river boats. The largest of the Iowa casinos is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an Amerindian gambling hall in Tama, with 127,669 square feet of casino room, 1,500 one armed bandits, 30 table games, such as twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several varieties of poker; as well as 3 dining rooms, monthly productions, and betting lessons. An additional large American Indian casino is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 sq.ft., 668 slots, and 14 table games. Furthermore, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs never closes, with 38,500 sq.ft., 1,589 one armed bandits, 36 table games, and four restaurants. There are several other dominant Iowa gambling dens, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 slot machines, and 39 table games.
A tinier Iowa gambling den is the Diamond Jo, a river based casino in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend Riverboat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 sq.ft., 535 slots, and 14 table games. Another Iowa riverboat gambling den, The Isle of Capri, is open never closes, with 24,939 square feet, 1,100 slot machines, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot river boat gambling den in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live productions, and Thursday blackjack events.
Iowa casinos present an excellent deal of tax revenue to the state government of Iowa, which has permitted the budgeting of many state wide projects. Vacationers have increased at a rapid percentage along with the requirement for services and an increase in jobs. Iowa gambling halls have been instrumental to the expansion of the economy, and the excitement for gaming in Iowa is widespread.
